iPhone 5c locks up with IOS 9.0.2  Get error "2009" when attempting to use iTunes to restore

After upgrading to IOS 9.0.2, iPhone 5c self powered down sometime that night.  I powered it on the next morning and it self powered off after about an hour  Could not power on anymore.  When POWER switch is depressed, occasionally the Apple logo coms up and disappears after about 15 seconds.  The iPhone appears to be “locked up”.

I tried attaching iPhone to iTunes (Current version on Windows 7).  iTunes gave message that it “has detected an iPhone in recovery mode.  You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes.”    I then ran restore which re-downloaded IOS 9.0.2, installed it and my Apps, re-synched and indicated complete.

After several hours, the iPhone self powered down and locked up again.  Worked with Apple Support for over an hour and they left me with some things to try.

Hold the POWER and HOME keys til the iPhone indicates to connect to iTunes.  Did this, Connected the USB cable to the phone and computer.  ITunes gave option to either update or restore.  I attempted the restore and received message ‘The iPhone “iPhone” could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (2009)’

iPhone screen is now illuminated

Currently using an iPhone 4 as an interim.  Is there anyway to install one of the prior IOS’s??

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
